Sediment filters, whether as
cartridges or media bed format, are used to filter and remove
suspended particulates like clay, silt, or oxidized iron from a
chlorinated system. By removing these particulates, the filter can
rid water of the sediment that gives water a cloudy appearance.
A cartridge filter will contain cellulose,
rayon, or some other material spum into a mesh with small pores.
Suspended sediment is then removed from water pressure forcing water
through the tightly wrapped fibers.
The mixed media used for filtering is
composed of a variety of mesh sizes to filter particles of various
sizes. Along with a thorough backwash, which prevents the bed from
channeling or locking up, you have a system set up for a long and
efficient service life. |
